Some time ago I was invited by GDT Gesellschaft Deutscher Tierfotografen to be a jury member in the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2010 Competition. This year is a special year because the contest is celebrating its 10th Anniversary.
During a weekend in the middle of May the rest of the jury and I stayed at Hotel Sonnenwinkel in Bad Essen, Germany. In two days I got my head filled with loads of beautiful and inspiring images. 10.000 images was submitted to the competition, but after the pre-jury we was left with more than 2500 images to find the Overall Winner as well as the winners, runners-up and commended images in each category - a total of 80 images. Although I was not able to discuss with the rest of the jury too much because I'm terrible at German, we managed to make a great selection overall - Very diverse. A special Thanks to Sandra Bartocha for being a translator.
The winning photographs…
