The first day of the year it is not always easy getting up early, but in the recent years I have been out to watch the first sunrise of the year. It's a new start and this year I'm aimed with a new camera, I have replaced my trusty Nikon D2X with the D700 and this is one of the first shots with this camera, made on a chilly morning. At the shores of the lake some old trees are dying and fungus, mosses and lichen are slowly making the trees into compost. I used one of my best macro lenses and used a small aperture to get optimal sharpness, keeping everything in focus.
