This landscape image shows feathery cirrus clouds, captured near my home a few days back. Cirrus clouds are one of my favourite components for black and white landscapes, they add magic and drama to the scene and they looks like bird feathers on the evening sky. Cirrus clouds are very high in the sky, the winds are stronger in the upper atmosphere than they are near the surface and cirrus type clouds take on a fibrous appearance, and they tend to point in the direction, that the upper air winds are blowing. When cirrus clouds streak the sky, the weather beneath them is often fair and calm.
