The forest floor is an ecosystem in itself, despite the constant shade of the trees in summer time, the forest floor is an important part of the forest ecosystem. The forest floor is where decomposition takes place. Decomposition is the process by which fungi and microorganisms break down dead plants and animals and recycle essential materials and nutrients. I like this image in black and white, all the green nuances are turned into tones of grey and the structure of the plants are more visible.
