Nikon VR 800mm f/5,6 announced

Aimed at professional photographers, the new Nikon lens is truly a monster-lens, but absolutely a perfect companion for a wildlife photographer. I know of a lot of photographers using a 600mm lens and adding a 1,4X tele-converter to add more reach, now Nikon has the solution for telephoto addicted photographers. Nikon has not yet specified a precise release date or retail price, though as the old saying goes, if you need to ask, you probably can’t afford it, but I would not be surprised if it cost as much a small family car. It will also be the longest focal-length lens in the collection to feature autofocus (Nikon has made longer lenses in the past but not with an AF feature). Would I buy one if I could ? Yes sir - one can only dream!

  1. Hi Jesper!

Very interesting lens - had the old manual focus 800mm/5.6 which was very good but big, heavy and expensive. Hope the new one is smaller in all aspects :-). Rgds, Asle.
